At any one time, I can be working on a number of projects. I guess it is because I do not want to get bored. Today I worked on a purple quilt skirt. I will probably be done with it in a few days; I love it! I am also working on a special order. I am also working on two iron-on projects, and altering a blouse. Not to mention the projects that are sitting, ready to work on: 2 dress alterations, a blue skirt from scratch, a purple and yellow quilt skirt, 3 versions of iris impressions (see other post), a pair of tie-dye shorts, and various others. So yes, I am keeping myself busy. This is how I keep myself from spending all day running errands. I have found that it is wayyy to easy to spend money when you are just looking, with no reason to leave.
How do I make a quilt skirt:
I decide on a theme or color scheme or inspiration. Then I get all of my fabric within that spectrum. Then I decide a size for the rectangles, and cut them out. Then I position them all together and look at the colors next to each other. I get special material to add layers and texture. Some of the material is fuzzy, silky, transparent, has holes, lacy, or in some way works well with another piece of material; and makes it even further unique and fun! Then it is off to pinning and sewing. Then making a waist and finishing the top, bottom, and insides. Maybe on the next one I can take pictures of the steps.
